MITUMBA SLUM

The slum Mitumba rises in South C in Nairobi, along the great chain of barracks surrounding the city and is situated near the small airport citizen intended to local flights.

The population is expected to approximately between 12000 and 15000 people. Residents who for the most part are widows and orphans. Children are about 3000, which many HIV positive. The rate of HIV positive people here reaches 60% compared to a national rate nearly 7%.

The inhabitants of the slum live with a daily income of the poorest in the world which does not touch either the dollar (0.60 $ per day).

Approximately 60% of the Kenyan population is able to attend school until the fifth class, Mitumba instead only 5% of boys reach this goal.

What can we do as an association and as people is a little respect to the situation of poverty in which these people live, but if you believe that enough 2 $ to provide a full meal to a child for 5 days, we can see that every gesture and every donation is important and necessary. Today through the Association Mitumba children followed by Reverend Shadrack and his staff are about 160, and the hope is to increase the number of children accepted and can form a real center of reference for all the slum, which can provide at least one meal a day and medical support to many people as possible.
